Theft prevention

Metal theft is one of the fastest-growing crimes in the United States. Copper, aluminum, nickel, stainless steel, and scrap iron are all targets for thieves looking to make easy money. As a member of the Institute for Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), we follow the association’s recommendations to help prevent scrap metal theft:

• We document who is selling metals and what they are selling
• For non-ferrous metals, we pay non-qualified customers by check rather than cash to deter anonymous sellers
• We train our employees how to identify stolen metal and keep records that could be used for prosecution purposes
